HOW TO CREATE SETUP AND DEPLOY Visual Basic 2008 Express

I have downloaded and installed Visual Basic 2008 Express and developed a small application. I cannot find Setup and Deploy project type in this Edition to create a setup and check.

Should i need to download Visual Studio 2008 to gain this option

  • You would need VS 2008 to have the setup projects.  However you can still deploy your VB express project with click once in the build menu select publish.

  • 1. The link does not work: "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page".

    2. Having searched all over the place, I have found lots of references regarding deployment based on VS 2005 or other editions, but 2008 seems to have different settings. Whenever I publish with "Download prerequisites from the component vendor's web site", everything goes ok. But, when I choose "... same location as my application", I get a bunch of "not found" errors for Windows Installer 3.1 and DotNetFX35. Have tried putting the requisite files in various folders: with my application, in Program Files, etc. etc. etc., but to no avail.

So, how do I publish to CD or a folder which has the necessary Installer and .NET files?
