  • As .NET Core 3.0 released, now we can develop Windows Forms applications with .NET Core.

    Prerequisites

    Create a new Windows Forms project

    In Visual Studio 2019, you can create Windows Forms App both with .NET Core or .NET Framework.

    App with .NET Framework is same as before. Once you create an app with .NET Core, you may need to install Windows Forms .NET Core Designer VSIX package to get same design experience as before. One tip is that this package is still in preview stage, so the experience is limited. For more information, refer to Introducing .NET Core Windows Forms Designer Preview 1.

    How to convert Windows Forms app with .NET Framework to .NET Core

    If you have a Windows Forms app built with .NET Framework and you want to port it to .NET Core., you can use the tool try-convert. This tool will migrate your old style .csproj to the new SDK-style. Here is an example:
