Azure portal dashboard completely missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am new to Azure and Azure portal, and have an issue with the initial portal dashboard. Me and a few others have subscriptions and were added to an azure directory.

My problem is the following: I only have a blank screen where the dashboard should be. The left and top side menus are still there. When I navigate back from a resource the top breadcrumb still remains. I tried cache and cookie clearing, private browsing, different browsers (IE11, Chrome, Firefox, Edge), logging out/in, but nothing worked. The dashboard link only goes to portal.azure.com/#dashboard, and as I saw from the others they have and URL which includes a private dashboard.

What could cause my initial dashboard to be missing? Since I have no experience with Azure, I don't know whether it is a technical or functional issue. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Solved. All I had to do was "Delete all settings and private dashboards" and then the initial dashboard from my work directory returned. Just with "Restore default settings" wasn't working...

Edit: For some reason I thought that particular option would delete even the initial dashboard...

  • Hi Nikola - either populate the dashboard (by following https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-portal/azure-portal-dashboards ) or reset it to the original state (by following https://dailydotnettips.com/how-to-reset-azure-portal-dashboard-to-default-state/ )

  • Hi Marcin,

Thank you for the quick answer, but it doesn't help. When i try to open the contextual menu (RMB) on the dashboard, nothing happens.

When I log in, this is the state I find my dashboard in: http://prntscr.com/luw2mf
And this is when navigating back from a resource: http://prntscr.com/luw306

    Maybe some permission issue?

    Thanks in advance,
    Nikola

  • Hi Nikola, can you confirm you are seeing the same issue across well-known IE browsers e.g. Chrome, Safari, FF?

  • It is difficult predict with provided screenshot about the problem that you are facing...But guessing from your problem description and screenshot it could be a default view selection issue..I am sorry..but that is the best I was able to guess from screenshot..

Go to settings and change your default view or try restoring default settings.

Else right click on dashboard screen and select Edit. Then populate your dashboard by dragging required resources from left hand side. Once done click on done customizing.

  • The issue is the same for Chrome, FF, IE, Edge. I tried restoring default settings an it's still the same.
Also tried clicking the right mouse button and on Edit, but nothing happens. It's like the code behind dashboard is broken. Also, this is the URL that the dashboard button redirects me to: "https://portal.azure.com/#dashboard". I noticed at my colleagues that the URL is different, "https://portal.azure.com/#@SomeDirectory/resource/dashboard/private/xxxx-xxxx-xxx.....". I did have another Microsoft account (not an exchange account) on the browser where I first opened my Azure portal, but now I removed that account from the Microsoft log in page.

    Sorry for the late reply...

EDIT: I have only one Azure directory. Also, on that other Microsoft account that I removed from the log in page, the dashboard was working just fine. So, is it possible that the initial private dashboard from my Exchange account has somehow been removed, or 'broken' somehow? Because, as I understand that is a resource as well, correct?
