Characters changing on upload RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all

Firstly, I apologise if I am posting in the wrong place as I don't know if this is an EW , FTP or browser problem.

I have just started to use EW4 and have been editing one of my pages, but after uploading to the net, some characters are changing.  For example:

    Paul’s should be Paul's

    £2 should be £2

“Pride and Prejudice” should be "Pride and Prejudice"

I have previewed in both IE and Firefox and all appears OK.  I am uploading using Filezilla and checked using select and view source, but those characters above, and some others, are changing.  I have deleted the files from the webhost and reloaded - same result.  I have cleared the cache, but ro no avail.

    Can anyone help and oldie.

Incedently, I have noticed similar on other sites, so I am not alone!  LOL

  • Looks fine on my machine in IE 8.
Check your browsers encoding setting, View > Encoding.

  • OK Mike and Steve.  Fiddled around with the browsers encoding settings and reverted back to UTF 8 and all seems to be OK again.

    Many thanks for your help
