  • General discussion

  • Hello,

Is there a Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel dll for Visual Studio 2017 Community Edition .NET Framework 4.6.1? It is not available in Nuget Package Manager. If yes, is there a download link?

  • Office comes with the DLL.  It is in the GAC if Offices is installed.

This is NOT a VS forum.  You need to post VS questions in the VS forums or in the Office developer forums.

  • A little help -  The Interops are loaded when you add a reference to the Office COM object.  For Excel select Microsoft Excel nn.n where nn.n is the version of office that is installed.  Current version is 16.0

  • There are no VS and Office Developer Forums on Technet.  There should be.

The latest version of Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel in Visual Studio 2017 Community Edition's nuget package manager is 15.0.4795.1000.

  • All developer forums are on MSDN.  From the start page of VS Community edition you can find all of the links.

There is no point in posting in this forum.  We will not answer your questions.  I recommend taking the time to do the tutorials for VS community to learn how to use it before you start asking questions.

    VS forums are here:

  • You can find Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel in this folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Shared\Visual Studio Tools for Office\PIA\Officexx\Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll

    \Officexx\ .... choose according to Excel(Office) version

  • Thank you all for your answers.

Besides the Microsoft Office Tools for Visual Studio, are there any other differences amongst the Community, Professional and Enterprise edition (2017) not already discussed in the pages below.

  • Does Visual Studio Tools for Office come with the Community Edition of Visual Studio 2012 or are the Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions required for that as well?
