Can't SFTP to CentOS 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All, I have never tried to SFTP to a CentOS 7.3 server via Microsoft Expression Web 4 until today.  It simply times out.  I checked the server log /var/log/secure and see this error:

localhost sshd[11004]: error: kex protocol error: type 30 seq 1 [preauth]

Filezilla and other clients work fine.  Any ideas?

  • The only idea is to not use SFTP.   Microsoft stopped development on EW several years ago. If a server implements a protocol in a way EW doesn't understand, there is nothing that will change that.

If the following blog makes any sense to your host, or simply telling them the error, there may be something on their end that can fix it: https://blog.nytsoi.net/2015/07/13/putty-kex-error   But there is nothing on EW's end that can fix it.
