Securing Web Service (.asmx) RRS feed

    hi guys, i need a little help in securing my web service.

    I  have a

    WebApplication1 and WebApplication2 

    WebApplication2 is having a webservice (Service1.asmx) and i want it that only WebApplication1 is authorized to access Service1.asmx, and no other Application can access it.

    please help

    U could restrict or grant access based on IP address or domain.

    In IIS 7 or above, u need to go to the Content View tab (in the lower part of the window), right click on your file and choose Switch to Features View. Open IP Address and Domain Restriction, click on Edit Feature Settings and choose to deny unspecified hosts. Now you can add authorizations by clicking on Add Allow Entry.

    Along with this u could secure ur service using one of the following authentication techniques

    1) Forms Authentication

    2) Windows Authentication

    3) Passport Authentication

    Google about these for details.
