Safe to remove OLE Automation? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

I just opened the VBE, and when I click Tools > References, I notice four things selected:

    • Visual Basic For Applications
    • Microsoft Excel 14.0 Object Library
    • OLE Automation
    • Microsoft Office 14.0 Object Library

I don't use Object Linking and Embedding. Is it safe to remove it? Or is it used by Excel?

    Thanks,
    Shane.
    Office Professional 2010
    Excel 14.0.7151.5001 (64-bit)

    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

  • You can probably remove the reference to OLE Automation without problems.

Try it, then select Debug > Compile VBAProject. If you don't get an error message, your code doesn't require OLE Automation.
