  • Question

  • Hi,

I am admin for SharePoint 2013 environment , one of the users wants to enter his windows credentials to schedule data refresh but he is getting an error. In order to enter his windows credentials i need to add his as admin for secure store service , Is there any other way to fix this other than adding him as admin for secure store service application.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Bharath,

We can use "Connect using the following Windows user credentials" option which allow schedule owners to enter an arbitrary Windows user name and password for running a data refresh job. Please refer to the screenshot below:
    SSAS_PPS_ScheduleDataRefreshCreds

For more detail information, please refer to the article below:

  • Thanks Elvis,

My question is we are using SharePoint 2013 environment. The data refresh can be scheduled successfully by using PowerPivot unattended service account (1st option in data refresh schedule page), one of the users want to schedule Power Pivot data refresh by using his windows credentials(2nd option in data refresh schedule page) because our service account doesn’t have access to data source, but getting an error. when i look in logs with correlation id i see error message "Access is denied to secure store service", Only farm admins or those who are having admin access to secure store service application are able to schedule entering their windows credentials. Is there any other way users can enter their credentials to schedule data refresh without adding them as admins to secure store service. Does anyone have similar situation?

    Thanks,
    Bharath

  • Hi Bharath,

It seems we need to grant the user administrator permissions using the Secure Store Administrators feature in Central Administration. Here is a blog for your reference, please see:
