Acronis Cloud Gateway and Microsoft's Azure Storage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear friends,, we are looking at the cloud backup solution, Acronis Cloud Gateway, to backup our (~ 8.5TB) data from our company. We will use the Acronis Cloud Gateway with Microsoft's Azure Storage service, however we are in doubt about the type of service being hired: File, Disk or Blob?

  • You can choose to go with Blob Storage Account selecting the Cool storage tier since backing up data is one of the usage scenarios for it. Note that only block blobs and append blobs are supported in this account type.

You can use Blob storage to store content such as:

    • Documents
    • Social data such as photos, videos, music, and blogs
    • Backups of files, computers, databases, and devices
    • Images and text for web applications
    • Configuration data for cloud applications
    • Big data, such as logs and other large datasets

  • In advance, sorry if I  misunderstand what you want.

I suppose cloud storage would satisfy your (and our) needs, if the data (file size) is large.

I don't mean differential backup, but doing it at one time.

How do you want do it?  e.g. full backup of over Tera bytes in eveyday?

  • Hi Ashidacchi,

In fact we will not backup all the 8.5TB every day. The solution we are deploying is using Acronis Storage Gateway to create a DRP for our data (8,5TB). The 8.5TB backup is local to the company (in site). Which we are looking for is the offsite copy.. the number 1 of the rule 1-2-3 of the backup.

In this case we are in doubt which storage service we should use from Azure: file, blob or disk?

  • As mentioned in my previous post, you can opt for Azure Blob Storage.
