Windows Azure VM for deployement RRS feed

    Hi All,

I am new to Windows Azure and I want to explore some of the basic concepts of azure.

I have been searching in Google and I have a basic idea. I have gone through the below link:

    http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/develop/net/tutorials/get-started/

I have downloaded the SDK for VS2012.

I got to know that we can get a trial version of azure VM.

I want to know how to deploy or rather publish my web application(from VS2012) on to the VM, Is it just that I need to give the server details and publish using our click once feature?

How do I test that the web application which I have deployed is on the cloud? Is there any way in which I can differentiate a web app hosted on a normal server from the web app hosted on azure?

Please provide some step-by-step information on this.

Also, it would be great if there is any other useful information , articles etc which can help me in learning Deployement in Azure in a better way.

    Thanks in advance!!!!

You can do it by following these steps,

    1. Add an endpoint on public port 80, private port 80.
    2. While the endpoint is being created, start setting the server up.
    3. Remote Desktop in.
    4. Add the Web Server (IIS) role with default settings.
    5. Test the connection. You should get a HTTP 200 OK status.
    6. Now host the website as you will do in the a normal Windows Server.

Is it just that I need to give the server details and publish using our click once feature?

No,You can't do it on click once. But for publishing website on Windows Azure websites it is simple process, just by dowloading publish profile and inporting the webapplication in the Vs2012 and Publish.

    Hello,

Can i get a Windows Azure trial VM?

I tried to download using my MSDN developer license, its always asking me for Payment details.

    http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/pricing/free-trial/

But it shows that the trail version is free.

I want to try out sql for azure using VM.

    Please suggest.
