Update 2 - Setup Failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • User-2064064890 posted

When running the Update 2 install, it ends with "Setup Failed!" and shows a long list of items with "Incorrect Function" as shown below.  It appears as though some of them are updates that might not apply to my computer.  However, the last one I included in the list below is more concerning.  After starting VS2013, the Help/About shows that I am still using "Update 1".

    Any suggestions?

    Microsoft LightSwitch v4.5 SDK
    Incorrect function.

Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2013 Update 2 Object Model (x64)
    Incorrect function.

Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2013 Update 2 Object Model Language Pack (x64) - ENU
    Incorrect function.

    KB2829760
    User cancelled installation.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Diagnostic Tools - x86
    Incorrect function.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Diagnostic Tools - amd64
    Incorrect function.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 IntelliTrace (x86)
    Incorrect function

    VS Update core components
    Incorrect function

    ...

It turns out that the ISO file I downloaded and mounted was not completely usable. Not sure if it was a problem with the ISO, or how it was mounted. The installer was unable to read a few files from the mounted drive.

Running the web installer worked fine.

    Hi glen95,

I suggest that you could repair you VS 2013 first, then update it. During the update of VS, please don’t do any other actions in your machine.

    Thanks

    Best Regards
