Windows 8 Task Manager Network Histogram Chart RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I really like the new and improved Task Manager.  For the most part, it is much better than its predecessor.  However, there is one thing that I would like to request (if not already fixed in the soon to be released "consumer preview") is Task Manager's ability to automatically scale its network histogram chart to observed bandwidth.

Looking below, both old and new Task Managers report a 10 Gbps connection (the synthetic network adapter in Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V).  However, the old Task Manager automatically adjusts the upper limit to 25% so that it's easy to see the histogram.  In the new Task Manager, the upper limit of the chart remains at 10 Gbps making the histogram difficult to see.  This is even worse when copying a file from the Internet where my max bandwidth is 15 Mbps.
