TypeScript for Windows Store Apps

    Question

  • Hi,

i am using the latest version of Visual Studio 2013 Professional Update 3 and i am interested to create a Windows 8.1 Store App by using TypeScript. But i see no project templates to create that kind of apps with TypeScript. Am i doing something wrong or is there another way to accomplish that and get started ?

Thanks a lot for any help.

  • Hi King Kikapu,

I can see that problem too, it seems all the missing files are .ts scripts. I think you may need contact the code owner to report the problem.

However if you need a workable demo, I would suggest you to download sample from: https://github.com/Microsoft/TypeScriptSamples/tree/master/win8.1, the sample is also listed on the official TypeScript site:http://www.typescriptlang.org/Sample

  • Hi King Kikapu,

Yes, you are correct, there is no default TypeScript template in Visual Studio 2013 with Windows Store App.

But there are some third-party configured templates exist, use your search engine with keywords "windows store app typescript template", you should be able to find something useful.

Hi and thank you for your answer.

I already did that search before i post here but didn't find anything that worked...The most elegant solution was this:

    http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/bd97e47d-ed3a-4f5e-ace2-37bbcb545c9e

but unfortunately, the plugin installs itself correctly but there are build errors when you create a project based on anyone from these project templates and try to build it. (cannot find referenced files and so)

Have you come up with a solution to this problem that actually is working ?

    Thank you again!
