Unregistring C# add-in Dlls doesn't remove all the registry keys RRS feed

  • Question

  • I developed a sample Excel Add-in using C#(VS 2005) by following the steps outlined in this KB article . After i build the solution, the Add-in is registered automatically and it does show up in Excel. However, after that i want to unregister/register the Add-in dll manually.

    So i tried,

    regasm MyComAddin.dll /u

This command unregisters the dll(add-in doesn't show up in Excel), but it still leaves around 3 entries in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT the registry if i search for keys with text "MyComAddin".

Is it a bug in regasm? or am i missing something? Please advice.

  • You have to add the /tlb switch to also unregister the typelib.
