SMI: UserData\ProductKey in P1 and ProductKey in P4 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can someone explain the real difference?

    Helpfile isn't that much informative.

Helpfile says if you typ in P1: "Windows Welcome will prompt for ProductKey" but it never does...

P4 sounds like the more recommended way to enter ProductKey but than i don't understand why there is a possibility to enter a Key in P1?

My testimages always worked fine with entering ProductKey in P1 and says "Windows is activated"

So whats the real difference and so on?!

  • Hi KNARZ,

For all practical purposes there are no differences. I guess there is an issue with the documentation. In windows client installation the P1 configuration is used to select the edition and the P4 to install and activate. Both the configuration settings have the same result on the runtime. I will follow up to correct the documentation. Thanks a lot for pointing the inconsistency.

    Thanks

    Shiv
