Exchange server: Searching mail on server RRS feed

  • Question

  • If i have to search a mail on server, based on sender name or sender email id.I am not trying to search based on keyword but search is for particular sender name/id. In result mail the searched string should be present in sender's name only and not in body of the mails.

Acc to protocol "Any actions on the search results are carried out by using other protocol commands, such as ItemOperations, SmartReply, or SmartForward." will  ItemOperations on search result do this.

    Please reply

The ItemOperations command acts as a container for the Fetch, EmptyFolderContents, and Move elements. ItemOperations allows for batch processing using these particular operations. Meaning, multiple number of one of the 3 previously listed elements can be contained in the ItemOperations container.

SmartReply and SmartForward have nothing to do with searching.

You could perform a Search command using the Query element and specifying a search parameter in the FreeText field. An example of this is shown in Section 4.11 of [MS-ASCMD].

  • If i want to search all the emails send from particular emailid or domain is it possible currently.

Currently what is happening is when i search server with some keyword for e.g "ash@gmail.com" it gives result of all those mails having this keyword in either their body or in subject or as a part of their email id. But i want that server should parse this result and just provide me emails whose sender is ash@gmail.com. Is this parsing possible in server through any command.

  • Hi Kuki:

I got the same problem as you are.

What I found that if you remove the BodyPreference tag in OPTIONS, sender and subject seems to be the only parts being searched, otherwise, Body will be searched too.

I also want  to know how to search by sender and subject only with BodyPreference.
