Can't deploy to iOS simulators nor devices RRS feed

    Hi,

    I've recently updated all xamarin stuff on my pc using VS 2013. When I try to deploy my app on the simulators or device i get this error

    Warning 1 There is a minor mismatch between the installed Xamarin.iOS (version 8.0.0.62) on the Mac Build Host 192.168.1.28 and the local Xamarin.iOS 8.0.52.0. When applying updates, make sure to keep both the Mac and Windows in sync. 0 0

    I have double checked my Xamarin version and Xamarin.iOS SDK using TOOLS ->Options -> Xamarin -> iOS Settings and all seems to be in perfectly sync I can connect my PC to my MAC using Build.Host

    any hint?

    I had the same error (VS 2013) this morning after (1) XCode 6.0 downloaded, (2) updating to Xamarin Studio to 5.4 on my Mac (with accompanying packages), and (3) updating to Xamarin Studio 5.4 on Windows (8.1). I then went to iOS Settings in VS (as specified above) and tested synchronization. The versions were determined to be out-of-synch and I chose to synchronize them. I watched as the synchronization process barometer appeared and disappeared. Since then I still get occasional errors reporting non-synchronization even though the synchronization test now passes. These errors come and go. I am unable to launch the iOS simulator and sometimes get the following error when I attempt to do so:

    Failed to resolve "MonoTouch.Foundation.NSString MonoTouch.MobileCoreServices.UTType::Movie" reference from "monotouch, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=84e04ff9cfb79065"

    This error, too, comes and goes, but I always get a "Failed to start application on the target simulator".

    This error ("Failed to resolve...") also occurs in Xamarin Studio (Mac version).

    I also get the same error 1>C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\iOS\Xamarin.iOS.Common.targets(384,3): error : Failed to resolve "MonoTouch.Foundation.NSString MonoTouch.MobileCoreServices.UTType::Movie" reference from "monotouch, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=84e04ff9cfb79065"

    On my Windows Visual Studio and Xamarin within Mac...

    Just to start with a clarification, the "Failed to resolve" error is not related to the "minor mismatch" warning. In fact the "minor mismatch" is harmless in this case (and there's not currently any way to stop the warning). I've filed a bug to have that warning switched off.

    The "Failed to resolve ... MonoTouch.MobileCoreServices.UTType::Movie" error looks like it's probably this bug:
    https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=23073

    I'll follow-up on that error in another thread to consolidate the information.

    Actually the "Minor Mismatch" warning is not "harmless". It prevents me from deploying my apps into simulators or devices :(

    The minor mismatch itself is harmless. There must be other errors. You can check the "Mac Server Log" (in the Output window in VS), the Verbose build outptut log, the Xamarin for Visual Studio logs, and the Build Host logs on the Mac to look for additional errors. (See: http://kb.xamarin.com/customer/portal/articles/1675684-how-to-collect-version-information-and-logs).

    It looks like you have a business license, so if you like feel free to send an email to one of the support email addresses listed on http://store.xamarin.com/account/my/subscription/, and the support team can help you look through these log files for additional clues!

    I get this problem too, but I am unable to Deploy to iOS devices. Under the solution settings the "Deploy" checkbox for iOS project is grayed out.

    So the project builds, I can see the device list, but can't deploy and run.

    See attached screenshot.

    @KashifShaikh?, the issue with the greyed out checkboxes would best be discussed in its own forum thread. Note that it's also generally discouraged to post the same question across multiple forum threads (1, 2), but it looks like these are your first posts, so no worries about that!

    That said, the greyed out checkboxes is intentional, and not itself the cause of any problems. I've posted a new thread specifically for that issue:
    http://forums.xamarin.com/discussion/25205/intentional-deploy-checkboxes-for-xamarin-ios-projects-cannot-be-checked

    If you're having trouble building or deploying, you'll need to check through the other logs, and possibly contact support, as mentioned here and here. Thanks for the report!

    If you're having trouble building or deploying, you'll need to check through the other logs, and possibly contact support, as mentioned in my post from September 23 or my similar post on another thread. Thanks!
