How to stablish Sourcesafe binding RRS feed

  • Question

  • There is logic in my vb.net AddIn which adds the project files and vb files in SourceSafe. New project gets created in sourcesafe and all files are added to sourceSafe. But problem is with setting up server binding. How can I bind the project to source safe. I am asking the programming equivalent of File -> SourceControl - > Change Source Control -> Bind.

    Thanks,

    Somesh

  • Hi Somesh,

    Thanks for your post.

Could you please check MSSCCI, which defines a set of functions that are used to implement various source control functionality.

For more information, please check Source Control Plug-ins.

And also you can download a msscci sample here.

If I misunderstand your issue, be free to let me know.

  • Ziwei,

    Thanks for your reply.

Article provided by you talks more about using Visual studio API, which is not what I am not looking for.

    Let me explain this :

    1. AddIn checks whether project is added to sourcesafe or not

    2. If it is not then, it adds all the files of project to sourcesafe

    3. But AddIn does not know how to bind the vb.net proejct with source safe. --- I am looking for a solution for this.

    Thanks,

    Somesh

  • I went thru the command line reference of visual sourcesafe but didn't find any command which will let me setup the sourcesafe binding.

http://www.dotnet247.com/247reference/msgs/48/241224.aspx , please read the discussion on this forum. Specially the last reply by Yanhong Huang
from Microsoft communitiy support, which is about executing "File.ChangeSourceControl" command. I am not sure if this will be the good solution.

    Thanks,

    Somesh

  • Hi Somesh,

    Thanks for your reply.

I thinks both David and Yanhong are right, the way

dte.ExcuteCommand("File.ChangeSourceControl") is to simulate the active click the "changesourcecontrol" button.

    Hope this can help.
