Windows Workflow Foundation Error: Operation ' ' on service instance with identifier ' ' cannot be performed at this time. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just created a sample Workflow service using WF. I have enabled the sqlWorkflowInstanceStore. I have two Receive and Send Reply Activities in two Sequences. First  Receive and Send Reply Activity has canCreateInstance true and Second one doesn't.

I have made the correlates. But When i run the client application,  it gives me the bellow error.

Additional information: Operation 'ApproveAsset|{http://tempuri.org/}IApproveAsset' on service instance with identifier 'faa0f801-4e88-4af5-9b00-f5b9e2605659' cannot be performed at this time. Please ensure that the operations are performed in the correct order and that the binding in use provides ordered delivery guarantees.

I can see 3 instances saved in the DB and faa0f801-4e88-4af5-9b00-f5b9e2605659 is the last one.

I have no idea how to fix this.

    Any suggestions ?

    Hi KasunK,

According to the error message above, first it's recommended to configure correlation for your workflow, see: http://xhinker.com/post/WF4Correlate-Multiple-Receive-Activities.aspx

    Best regards,

    Angie
