Access violation on comtl32.dll with outlook application COM-object RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I use Outlook.Application in an Windows application with an own developed language with a kernal/runtime based on C.

Some users has been reporting crashes about i times a day. There is an internal fault dump that says:

    Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION
    Fault address:  72F04D44 01:000E3D44 C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\\COMCTL32.dll

It seems a bit tricky to provoke the fault so it is not easy to find the problem. Anyone that is expert on fault adress etc... :)

    Call stack:
    Address   Frame     Logical addr  Module
    72F04D44  0019F238  0001:000E3D44 C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\\COMCTL32.dll

  • Is this Outlook related at all?

Try to collect a crash dump using procdump.exe (it can wait for a process to crash) and open a support case with Microsoft.
