Windows7,Win2008R2 - Trim Command and SSD RRS feed

  • Question

  • Win7 and Win2008-R2 have support for the TRIM-Command on SSD.

Is it also possible for W7 to use the TRIM Command if I boot my System from a VHD File?

If not, I think this is a real problem for the performance and a show-stopper for "VHD Boot".

  • Hello,

    Thanks for the question.

MS VHD stack does not support TRIM in Win7. However, if the VHD files do not occupy the whole disk, TRIM still works for other parts of disk.
