Azure Storage incompatible with ASP.NET 5 WebApi? RRS feed

  • Question

  • From HL interactive (@hl_interactive) via Twitter who tweets:

    “Is Azure Storage incompatible with ASP.NET 5 WebApi? Build error of type "does not exist in namespace MS"”
    We checked this with our team and advised that ASP.Net 5 web api is compatible with Azure storage. We believe that the customer may be missing a reference and to confirm if they were aware of this. Also mentioned that if this did not work, the customer could try to uninstall and reinstall the nuget package

    The customer also added: “In WinAzure.Storage 6.2.2 (pre) there's only one DLL for netcore and that's added?” and attached the below screenshot

    Appreciate if you may be able to advise on this matter.

    Thanks,
    @AzureSupport

  • If you happen to have a reference to ASP.NET Core 5.0 in addition to ASP.NET 5.0, try removing the reference to ASP.NET Core 5.0. • Adding the AzureStorage package to a modern ASP.NET 5 (RC1) application works fine, but doesn’t build.

    I (who am @HL_Interactive) get an error of type “Azure does not exist in the namespace Microsoft”.

  • Yep, this solved the issue. Though there's nothing called "ASP.NET Core" as seen above, it's "DNX Core" and DNX 4.6.1". I removed the former to get it working.
