Zune desktop software done with WPF? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am just beginning my learning WPF, and my ultimate goal is to create an application with a UI similar to that of Zune.  Was Zune created with WPF?

  • Hi Rob Evans,

The answer is No. Zune is based on C++ and not a part of .net framework.

We don't have a WPF template with a Metro-ish look and feel like Zune. You need to learn more about Layout and Styling/Templating in WPF to build your own Zune-like software.

For your reference there is one interesting article about how to build Zune-like Border-less window,

    http://gallery.expression.microsoft.com/ZuneWindowBehavior

Hope this information is helpful for you! If you still have any questions please feel free to let me know.

  • I think my subject line was not explicit enough.  I am interested in the desktop software for Zune that runs in Windows OS.  Was it done with WPF?

  • Unfortunately with the behavior you have offered, no other window in the application, except then the main one, can process mouse clicks. This is a huge bug in the ZuneWindowBehavior casting it unusable until fixed.

  • Thank you, Max.  By the way, you have an interesting looking web site.  I wish I could understand the content.
