mobile app configuration failed please try again RRS feed

  • New tenant, new user account cannot enable 2FA authenticator app via security defaults. 

    "Mobile app configuration unavailable
    We are unable to configure the mobile app at this time. Please try again later.

    Correlation ID: "

    Tried googling and asking other engineers but no idea why this is occurring. help please!

    Thanks for reaching out to us. Apologize for the delay in response. 

    • This error usually means there might be an issue with app. Try to see if you can enable 2FA Authenticator by Phone or Text. 

    • Also check that there are no additional devices associated with the account that might be causing this issue. Go to portal.office.com/account > Security and Privacy > Additional security verification > Update your phone numbers used for account security.

    • There you can see all of your devices associated with your account for MFA/2FA. There might be an old device causing the authentication to have this issue. If you delete the old devices you should be able to get past the error.
