Zip a File RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I need to zip a collection of file and save the zip file to a '.cms' extension.

When I change the extension I find loss of data.

Can you kindly suggest me a solution?

  • You find what?

    Use the DotNetZip library.

  • The .NET base class library has the ability to create zips.

I wrote a blog article about this.

  • I have used in the past code from SharpzipLib to zip files and change extensions. I hope you may find it useful in your scneario.

  • Hi evan,

I read your blog article, I knew about System.IO.Packaging and appreciate the way you use it.

But, why reinvent the wheel ? There are plenty of .NET zipping libraries, why not simply use one of them ?

    Kind regards,
