Biztalk 2010 to VAN RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have 2010 installed, according to everything I have read everything needed for an EDI send transaction should be part of the Biztalk 2010 product. I am also being told that we might need "nSoftware" adapters to be able to send EDI documents. I asked about this in this forum and was told that I should not need to get anything from "nSoftware" except depending on how the trading partners are setup.

Any details on what the trading partner setup would be that would required us to purchase "nSoftware" products would help me understand this a little bit better.

    Kind regards

  • You dont need nSoftware to setup the trading partners. This functionality is provided by BizTalk out of box . The Trading Partner Management (TPM) user interface enables you to set processing properties for trading partners engaging in EDI document exchange and AS2 document transport. For more information, see The Role of Agreements in EDI Processing and EDI and AS2 UI Help.

  • I worked on a project using the built-in AS2 functionality to connect to GXS (an EDI VAN). You should not need to use the nSoftware adapters unless there is a specific scenario the AS2 functionality provided is not enough. I have heard of a few scenarios but these are pretty rare where the built-in capabilities are not enough.
