Authentication with Domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • we have Sharepoint 3.0, and a 2003/2008 domain. Now when a user who is on the domain, logs into sharepoint, they need to put in thier username and password. Can I setup sharepoint to do passthru authentication when a user is coming in from a workstation that is on the domain?

    Thanks

    Pat

  • If they are using Internet Explorer then the answer is yes.  You can modify the Internet Options in IE to do an automated pass through of the Operating System credentials.  here's an article that explains how to change the settings manually.  You can also automate the change for all users using a Group Policy Object.

  • Just to add to what Paul has suggested, it will work the way you want provided authentication for your SharePoint sites are NT Authentication.
