StreetSide Coverage Analysis? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm looking into potentially using StreetSide for a project, via the V8 web controls API,

I'm hoping to find a lightweight API request for vetting the streetside imagery status for a given pair of lat/lng coordinates, so that I can run through my data and get a sense of what percentage would be covered by streetside.

The imagery API looked hopeful: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff701721.aspx
However StreetSide is not listed under the imagery types.

This seems like it would be a common requirement. Has anybody else figured out a simple way to do this?

  • There is no service available for checking availability of Streetside. There is two ways you can verify if streetside is available. The first is to use the Bing Maps V8 control and select the streetside option. This will display a blue overlay highlighting where streetside is available, for example:

Another option is to use the Streetside onErrorLoading and onSuccessLoading functions in the Bing Maps V8 control. You can then try and load map into streetside and depending on which event fires, determine if streetside is available for the location in question. For example: http://www.bing.com/api/maps/sdk/mapcontrol/isdk#streetsideFailoverToRoad+JS
