Migrate database form SQL 2000 to @008R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a production SQL 2000 server database on Windows Server 2003.

I have new hardware, Windows 2008R2, SQL Server 2008 R2 added too the domain.  There are external software connections the database as well as web server and report writier connections.  The thought occured to me that I could simple backup and then restore the database to the 2008R2 server, rename and shutdown the old SQL server, then rename the new server to the name of the old server, change IP accordingly, and my external connections, web server, print server, would again work without making any of those changes.  Is ther a problem with teh SQL 2008R2 standard install if I change the netbios name of the server?
