Can you email from the Multiple-Selection List Box RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Is there a way to send an email using the Multiple Selection List Box?  I need the form to submit to the document library as well. The value would be the email address and the display name would show up on the form to be checked.

What I am attempting to do is send an email to a list of 25 team member when the Infopath form pertains to them.  The same team members would not be checked every time.  Is there a better way to do this?

    Thanks!

  • To send email from a multiple selection control:

Add the multiple selection control to an Infopath form.

    Enter list box entries manually.

    Make an email data connection.

    In value add this formula:

    eval(eval(field21, 'concat(., ";")'), "..")

  • Hi FiddlerOrb,

I think you could submit the (Multiple selection) form field to a field in SharePoint list, and bind a SharePoint workflow with send emails action to the form library. Within the send emails action, you send the email to the people in the list field that the multiple selection form field submitted to.
Note: When you publish the form and submit the form field to a field in SharePoint library/list, please select merge function.

Do the 25 team members store in a SharePoint list?
If so, you could create a data connection to receive the data from that list. Then add the list data source to the multiple selection control with Show only entries with unique display name checked. And show only entries with unique display name option is used to avoid duplicated user name got display in multiple selection control.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hello Emir

I was able to create the data connection with a list to the multiple selection control to show the entries.

I am unable to get the emails to send.  This is what I've set up on my Infopath form:

The Data type is a string

My datasource is a look up value from an external data source.

Choose the repeating group or field where the entries are stored.

    Value: Email

    Display Name First_and_Last_Name

Show only entires with unique display names is checked.

I'm using Sharepoint Designer to send the email and have that set up.  Can you see what is missing in order to send emails?  Do I need to create a rule?

    Thanks
