Skeleton Tracking Stability RRS feed

  • I am doing some research after gesture recoginition with Kinect for my studies. At the moment I'm comparing the latest version of the MS SDK with the SDK from OpenNI. It looks to me as if the skeleton tracking in OpenNI is much more stable than the one that's being used in the MS SDK. Intially it was intended that I would use the MS SDK if it was sufficiently stable.

    Is there a way to improve the stability of the skeleton tracking in the MS SDK (besides the use of TransformSmoothParameters) or can i conclude that OpenNI is more stable at the moment?

  • I've noticed that as well; it's basically unusable if your hand is over your body or head. The Kinect appears unable to deal with two joints overlapping in the xy plane, as should be obvious if you play with the skeleton viewer.

  • does the OpenNi still need the calibration pause ?

    can you track several skeletons ?
