  • Using perfmon is the de-facto solution if you want statistical information, e.g. % time in GC, ratio of generational collections to each other.

    If you want to dig into the specifics of a particular program in more depth, e.g. find out what object types are allocated where, which types of objects survive generations, etc. then search for CLR Profiler - a free Microsoft tool.
