Function Item_Send() not firing with Custom Outlook Task Request Form RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a custom Outlook Task Request form that I'm trying to run some validation code on Function Item_Send().  For some unknown reason, the Item_Send() event is not firing with my form.  I confirm it fires with a message and some other form types.  Is it not supposed to fire on a task request form or am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

  • Strictly speaking, neither tasks nor appointments are sent - the original items are left in place, what is sent is the task/meeting request (which are standalone items).

    Have you tried to use Application.ItemSend event?

  • Thanks, Dmitry. Am I able to hook into the Application.ItemSend event from my code in the outlook form?

  • Sure, you can process Application wide events.

  • What would that code look like in my custom form? I'm not having any luck. thanks!

    Function Item_Send()
    msgbox "Item_Send"
    End Function

    Sub Application_ItemSend(ByVal Item As Object, Cancel As Boolean)
    msgbox "Application_ItemSend"
    End sub

  • Most likely your form is already closed by the time this event fires...

    Do you have any code in the global VBA project (ThisOutlookSession)?
