Using a .accdb database as a datasource in Visual Studio 2005 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to use an Access database (.accdb) as a datasource in a Visual Studio 2005 application but get an error saying it is an unrecognized database format.  Is there some way to use this file as a datasource?  Thanks for any help.

  • Are you using the correct OLEDB provider? It should be the Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider (if you're using the wizard).

  • Thanks, Paul.  I will check that out.  In order to continue working I started saving the .accdb files as .mdb files and just moving on, but ultimately I will need to answer the question and resolve the problem.  I should have mentioned that I am programming in C#, although I don't know why that would make a difference.  Thanks again.
