Excel Data is not refreshed in Project Online

Question

Hi All,

I have created one Pivot table report to display all plans with all field values in excel and Uploaded the same in the project online. 

I have enable the "Refresh data when opening the file " and Refresh this connection on Refresh All" items on Excel Connection properties.

I have changed the field value in a plan and check in the plan. Now, I came to the Excel report which I have uploaded in Online and refresh the connection. The data is not updated after click on the "Refresh Selected Connection" under Data tab, the data will updates only refresh the whole page.

Please let me know why data is not updated after click on "Refresh Selected connection" ? or let me know how it will get refresh?

I assume that the data in excel should get refreshed when I refresh the connections using available option. is this problem exist in project online?

Hi Keerthi,

Are you able to refresh the Out Of The Box(OOTB) reports in Project Online?

1) If you are not able to refresh the OOTB report. Please check this Link

2) if you are able to refresh the report, let us know are you getting any error message? And try to edit the workbook in excel and try to refresh, and check are you getting any issue message.

Balaji,

Data is getting refreshed first time on load of the report as I enabled "refresh every time on load". But the issue is, once it is refreshed on load, then i'm trying to refresh thru "refresh connection" option but data is not refreshing and not even showing any error message.

fyi, i enabled excel refresh feature.

Strange. I am also getting the same error message when I tried with the sample. But able to refresh All the connections, only "Refresh selected connections" is not responding.

What connection are you making? Are you using Power Query or a straight OData link to build your Pivot table.

I have seen issues with Power Query not refreshing in the browser, but a straight OData link should do the trick.

i'm using straight oData query and no power queries. But As i said, refresh is working for firsttime but next time onwards no refresh happening.

I too found the same behavior. But this isn't an issue, it refreshes only when there is update data. You probably may need to wait few mins to get your updates in Excel if you are using oData.
