Registry DAT Compare Application? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I use to work on Symbol devices, there was a handy little app written by a fellow in England which basically took a snapshot of the registry Before and after a midification to the device settings it'd take an After registry snapshot and show a diff in plain English that you could add to a REG.DAT file and run at  WarmBoot to apply the change programatically.

I'm working with Unitech AutoInstaller and need to know what changes I need to add to the Install.ini file to do something similar.

Anyone know of a desktop app that can do this on a CE5.0 platform device via ActiveSync?

  • Remote Registry Editor will do that.   It doesn't do the diff, but it will output the registry to a text file which you can use almost any diff tool on.

  • Thanks Bruce!!  right under my nose.  The back up REG.DATs that the Unitech device produces are binary so I figured I would be able to see plain text.  I'll check it out now.  Thanks!
