How to create 64-bit virtual server? RRS feed

  • i have install microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1. i created a new virtual machine and when i tried to install windows server 2003 enterprise R2 edition [64-bit], it gave error stating that 64-bit processor not found.

    It there a way to create 64-bit virtual machines using microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1[32-bit].

  • you need run  64-bit virtual server on a 64-bit windows server  to install your 64-bit windows server 2003. everything must be the 64-bit compatible. and basically your hardware must support 64-bit archtecture, in other word, your cpu must be a XEON family compliant. this is different from vista 64-bit concepts. if i am wrong correct me plz. thanks.

  • Virtual Server 2005 R2 does not support x64 bit VM's to be hosted on it. You will be able to create and manage only 32 bit virtual machines
