Visual Studio Unable to debug RRS feed

  • Question

  • User-2053819355 posted

I am developping an MVC3 RC2 application and just after hitting F5 on my asp web application, I am getting this error message

    The program '[7780] w3wp.exe: Managed (v4.0.30319)' has exited with code -2 (0xfffffffe).

So I am totally unable to debug my application

Can someone have an idea what code -2 means

Ok, so we have narrowed it down from being a Visual Studio problem to being a problem with your project.

Try starting a new project and move chunks of code into it bit by bit, debugging in between where possible to locate the dodgy bit of code causing your debugger to crash.

    Hi Nachid,

Could you please check it after IIS Reset. You just need to write iisreset in command prompt.

Hrmm strange, try toggling script debugging within Internet Explorer and try again.

    I did
I also tried to stop and restart my dedicated application pool without succes

It is an MVC3 application with IIS7 running on Windows 7 (32bits)

    Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate

The debugger is stopped with these two errors messages

    The thread '<No Name>' (0x17e4) has exited with code 0 (0x0).
    The program '[2512] w3wp.exe: Managed (v4.0.30319)' has exited with code -2 (0xfffffffe).

Does the debugger crash when you use it on a new project? or is the debugger crash limited to your one project?

Probably not something you want to hear, but have you tried reinstalling VS?

It looks like this is limited to my project

To ovoid uninstall and reinstall VS and I downloaded SP1 BETA and installed it but it did not help

I spent the whole day trying so many things and I am very tired

    Tomorrow is another day

    I created a new project
I copied over it my old project
I created a new application pool and a new project
    Everything is stricly the same

The old one is crashing et the new one is working

The only difference is the name
That's the mistery of black boxes

Actually here is what really solved this issue and I hope it can help someone else
Under II7 Administration tool, I deleted my project and my application pool
I created a new application pool with exactly the same as the old one
I created a new project with exactly the same parameters as the old one

    And now everything is working

    Thank you for your help
