msiexec command line default and one more feature RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

i know msiexec command line params, the INSTALLLEVEL prop and the ADDLOCAL prop. But is there a way to use the default and just add one other feature, that is not default?

Further explanation. i have a setup with almost 30 features. 20 are default. I want to install all default features and two more. Do i have to write all 22 features in command line with ADDLOCAL=.........................................??

  • Hello Nic,

Based on the ADDLOCAL document, it seems it is not works like what you said. Please check the following

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa367536(v=vs.85).aspx

"The value of the ADDLOCAL property is a list of features that are delimited by commas, and are to be installed locally. The features must be present in the Feature column of the Feature Table. To install all features locally, use ADDLOCAL=ALL on the command line. Do not enter ADDLOCAL=ALL into the Property Table, because this generates a locally installed package that cannot be correctly removed.

    "

The ADDLOCAL means it will be installed locally but not about feature select.

If you need to select the feature or use some condition, maybe you have to check the following:

    Preselected property http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370839(v=vs.85).aspx

    Condition Table http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa368014(v=vs.85).aspx
