SQL Server Multiple Disks, Files and filegroups RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

I'm defining the SQL Server Build Document for my company. usually we were only considering 3 disks, one for Data, one for log, and one for tempdb.

However, there are some SQL Server Instances with data above 1TB which makes me consider some more "complex" data placement.

I would like to know if there is any recommendation based on maximum disk size and or data file size.

Is there any tread off or best practice on the distribution and data placement based on size?

What can you suggest for better performance?

    Thanks in advance,
