Master page like Template in HTML5 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Experts,

    Here is scenario:

We have existing ASP.Net application. Its complex and working great but we want to create a light weight version of it that can should be compatible with iPad, iPhone and other hand held devices.

So, we are planning for a HTML5 version of it. Here are few questions need discussion:

    1. Are there any templates available in HTML5, like Master pages or templates in ASP.Net/ASP.Net MVC?
    2. If there are no templates then what other options we have?
    3. Should we create a Master page in ASP.Net and Inherit single Home.aspx from it and open all the pages in a iFrame (placed on Home page)? This way, we can place all the HTML5 based controls (Kendo UI or even Infragistics HTML5 controls) in head, foot and left areas of master page and all the HTML5 based pages will open in that iFrame.

Keeping in mind that we want to develop this application for all HTML5 supported browsers on all devices, which option is most suitable?

    Looking for a great discussion...

  • Hi Asim

If you need to go for multiple devices then you need to go for ASP.Net MVC that has built in support , on thing I would like to say that try avoid using ASP.Net server controls. i.e.

for layout use ASP.Net MVC and for controls go for some cross browser APIs like Jquery for mobile or telrik controls that has cross browser support http://www.telerik.com/products/aspnet-mvc.aspx

  • You should go for AMP.Net MVC mobile template also it has native support for Jquery
