Alternative to Azure Search application RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We're looking at doing an Azure pilot project.  I want to allow my client to upload a series of OCRd PDFs to Azure Blob storage and then crawl that content using Azure Search.  A web application would then query the Azure Search application and download the PDF from Azure blob.  While we don't have that much content that needs crawling, nearly every PDF is over 16MB.  Azure Search tiers free or basic won't crawl anything larger than 16MB, pushing us into the S1 pricing tier at a minimum which will cost approximately $250/month to run.  This is far too expensive.

Can anybody recommend an alternative Azure blob indexer?

    Tks

  • Opting for Azure Search is the best way of indexing the Azure Blobs but since you’re not convinced with the pricing tier you might want to try out other ways of indexing that exist outside of Microsoft Azure product catalog. We haven’t tested these out so we can’t comment on their performance.

In the meantime, it would be great if you can leave your feedback on Azure Search by visiting the Azure UserVoice page.
