Symbols Slow Loading

    I have several VS 2013 Silverlight solutions that I've been working in for years.  All of a sudden today it took for ever to run the solution and I noticed that the symbols were loading very slow.  after googling I saw recommendations to go to Tools->Options->Debugging->Symbols and uncheck things I don't need.  There was only one item in the list, "Microsoft Symbol Server", so I unchecked it things loaded much faster.

    Why did this happen all of a sudden and I assume this option has always been checked - so what if I need this in the future?  I may not think of coming back here and checking it again.

    Thank you for any advice and tips you can offer.

    MS-Symbol-Server has some problems delivering symbol-files for system/os modules currently. Hope they'll fix it soon. See

    But these pdbs may not always be required for debugging.
