c# aplication reading data from mySql on web server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have build the website using PHP and mySql. It is booking on-line system for restaurant. I am thinking, is it possible to integrate windows aplication to check new records (reservations) from mySql database?

Small aplication will be installed on admin computer, with login and password to get an access to database, will be worked in background (in tray) and will be checked for new records, for example every 10 min. If new activity exist, there will be a message or sth.

Any ideas how to do it? Any sample code or articles will be helpfull.
    Thanks - Tomasz

  • This seems like a typical application with two 'challenges':
    - find a .net driver for the database (which can be found at the site)
    - install a timer to periodically query the database (which shouldn't be that hard either)

With typical i meant that you simply create a windows application, use the ADO.NET style to query the database (MySqlConnection, MySqlCommand, MySqlDataReader)..
