Visual FoxPro and 8th/9th Gen Processors RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Friends,

I need to buy a new DeskTop. Somewhere on the Internet I saw that 8th/9th Gen Processors have only 64bit instruction set. I was wondering if my Visual FoxPro itself and Application developed in VFP will work on the new Desktop or not.

Will be very nice if any users with experience with 8th/9th Gen Processors and VFP, share their views.

    With Regards

  • There is no pure 64bit processor nor pure 64bit Windows OS.

There is no pure 32bit CPU since 6th or 7th generation and there also hasn't been a pure 32bit Windows for the same reason since the same time.

64bit CPUs still have 32bit and even 16bit (8086) modes. So this doesn't stop 32bit software from working. You've read that wrong or whatever you don't link to has that wrong.

    Bye, Olaf.
