External Hard Drive Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought an external hard drive that is supposed to be located on Local Disk (E:).  When I right clicked and tried to "browse files"  I was denied access to the disk E.  I am totally useless with computers, technology, etc.  I managed, however, to locate info that gave me the bad news that I didn't have permission to access Disk E:  because I'm not the "owner".  How can that be?  No one else uses this computer.  It's all mine.  Also, it wouldn't/couldn't identity the owner.  When I tried to change the owner to me, I was again denied access.  What to do?  Thank you for any assistance you can offer me.

  • Could you provide a screenshot of Disk Management or share it via cloud storage such as OneDrive, Dropbox, etc?
    You can run Disk Management:
Right-Click on Start > select [Run] > input diskmgmt.msc and [Enter]
