Backup Costs vs Site Recovery Costs RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can I do a price comparison of a backup vs site recovery? (The only costs I can assess are the 25/node/month for site recovery)

At some point, the site recovery may be more cost effective than a traditional backup that is kept for 30 day, etc....what is the benefit of a backup vs site recovery? I am thinking...do people do both? In case of data corruption, a backup might still be needed. Any advice on this will be greatly appreciated!

  • Azure Backup and Site Recovery, both the services are related but they've different purposes. Azure Backup is used to protect and restore data at a more granular level. For example, a file or a chunk of data becomes corrupted, you can use Azure backup to restore that data. But, if you're planning for a BCDR and want to replicate your onsite set up to another datacenter or a secondary datacenter, you would use Azure Site Recovery.
