Sync Issues with Outlook 2016

    Question

  • I have a user running Outlook 2016 in Cached Exchange Exchange Mode. Starting in October they started getting sync issues with SharePoint 2010 whenever they moved their items over to the shared calendar:

Task 'SharePoint' reported error (0x00000000): 'Acme Task Prep -Acme Job Schedule - Failed to copy one or more items because some are not compatible with SharePoint.
The failed items were moved to your Local Failures folder and replaced with copies from the server. If you need assistance troubleshooting items in your Local Failures
folder, a Help topic is available at the following address: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=70300. For details, see the log file.'

According to the user he doesn't see that any items are missing. He just keeps getting the above error.

    I found this article:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/office/developer/sharepoint-2010/ee535526(v%3Doffice.14)

But as far as making those errors stop coming up I'm out of ideas.

Has anyone encountered this issue before?

  • Hi cipher7836,

How did they move the items to the shared calendar?

From the error message, the failed items are moved to the Local Failures Folder in the Outlook.

To check the Local Failures Folder in the Outlook, you could click on the three dots in the bottom left of your Outlook email and then select “Folders”.

To troubleshoot the issue, check things below:

    1. Delete the calendar from outlook and add back the calendar to the outlook.

    2. Repair Outlook according to the article below.

    Repair/Re-install Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016.

  • Hi Sara, it probably is the answer so I marked it as such. Unfortunately, the user hasn’t been there and when he is he makes it somewhat impossible to troubleshoot because he isn’t very cooperative. You know those uses that want you to solve an issue but they don’t want you to do any troubleshooting on their system? The ones that just want you waive their magic wand and fix it? That’s what I’m dealing with.
