Block storage latency with Wowza (dealing with videos) RRS feed

  • Question

  • We're using Wowza for streaming and videos and tried using block storage and had significant latency challenges. We then switched to Page Blob storage and it won't work with Wowza.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

  • Could you describe your latency issue in a bit more detail? How are you measuring the Azure Storage performance?

Note that Block blobs are optimized for streaming and storing cloud objects, and are a good choice for storing media files, backups etc. On the other hand, Page blobs are a collection of 512-byte pages optimized for representing IaaS VM disks and supporting random read/write operations so I reckon you should continue to use Block Blobs. Refer this document for more information around the different blob storage types.
